Oncology Scars

I trained in oncology scar therapy in 2024, I started the course as soon as I was given the 'all clear' from my own cancer journey. I felt that with everything I had been through, I could understand and empathise with the journey that others were experiencing. Using my scar therapy and massage skills as well as be able to talk to people about going through cancer has been very rewarding and that something beneficial has come from what I have been through.

Oncology scars can be treated at any stage, I have worked with scars as soon as 6 weeks post surgery (which is fine as long as all scabs are gone) and I have treated people as long as 12 years post surgery and we have still made a difference to how their scar tissue looks and feels.

Types of oncology scars I have worked with:

  • mastectomy with reconstruction (lat flap and diep)

  • bowel cancer with stoma

  • lung cancer

  • oesophageal cancer

  • ovarian cancer
